Vinings Area Information

Conveniently seated between Buckhead and the suburb of Smyrna, Vinings is a popular unincorporated area in Cobb County. The community was previously the site of Pace’s Ferry, an important river ferry that shuttled people across the Chattahoochee River. In fact, the importance of this river crossing would later give way to the Battle of Pace’s Ferry, a conflict during the Civil War. Vinings later became a construction site for the railroad in North Georgia, and the community took its name from one of the railroad’s leaders.

Today, Vinings is a small town of approximately 10,000 people. The community benefits greatly from its close proximity to Atlanta proper, with many families choosing to live in Vinings for the convenience of a short commute. Vinings is also home to a number of small businesses, restaurants, and retailers, all of which give the area a unique small town feel.
